When working with cranes, it is absolutely essential to know the current load torque. If the safe load torque is exceeded, the crane will be at risk of tipping over. For this reason, when calculating the load torque, various parameters such as the width of the supports, the weight of the load and the length of the jib must be taken into account. To measure the length of the jig, Böcker has integrated draw-wire sensors, such as the wireSENSOR MK120, within the jig. Size, simplicity and reliability are key sensor attributes here. The entire extension length is not measured, only the length of the first hydraulic cylinder. Total boom length is then calculated from this value. This clever method means that a huge measuring range is not required, which eliminates the need for integrating a large sensor in the boom.
