Energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries play a crucial role for the change in mobility and energy transition. In order to optimize the battery production, sensors are required which monitor the production line to the highest accuracy and dynamic. Web edge control of electrode film

Optical optoCONTROL micrometers detect the required edge position of electrode and separator films. Due to their high measuring rate, optoCONTROL micrometers are also suitable for monitoring dynamic production processes.

Thickness measurement of electrode coatings

In order to measure the thickness of electrode coatings, optoNCDT laser sensors are attached opposite the strip material. Based on synchronization combined with the precise sensor alignment, high measurement accuracy and measuring rates are achieved.

Coating application on edges

In order to maintain tight manufacturing tolerances, laser scanners from Micro-Epsilon inspect the coating profile on the strip edge. This is how anomalies and undulations are detected. Modern interfaces allow for the scanCONTROL SMART sensors to be directly integrated into the control system.

Detection of curved edges after cutting

Films may have curvatures and deformations after longitudinal cutting. In order to detect these deviations reliably during production, laser profile sensors from Micro-Epsilon are used. Laser scanners measure the profile of the film on the edge in order to determine the length profile.

Measuring the thickness of wet layers

Confocal chromatic sensors from Micro-Epsilon monitor the coating thickness of wet materials. Their high resolution enables them to reliably detect any minor deviations.

Position control of battery cells

After the battery cells have been assembled, laser scanners from Micro-Epsilon inspect their completeness and position. Therefore, a 3D image is generated which is then compared with the CAD data.

Inspection of adhesive beading and applied sealants

scanCONTROL laser scanners inspect the presence and dimension of adhesive beading while regulating the distance control of the dispenser. Their high resolution also enables to reliably detect even the finest of beads.

Sledování teploty během počátečního nabíjení baterií

První proces nabíjení baterií je monitorován termovizními kamerami Micro-Epsilon. Poskytují informace o teplotním rozložení a tím poskytují informace o možných zkratech. Odchylky od cílové teploty jsou automaticky rozpoznávány a vystupují prostřednictvím detekce teplotního extrému (hotspot).
