Confocal precision in confined spaces
The new confocalDT IFS2404-8 expands the compact IFS2404 series with an 8 mm measuring range. With its narrow light cone and large offset distance, the confocal chromatic sensor is ideal for non-contact distance and thickness measurements in narrow openings, containers and hard-to-access measuring points.
Micro-Epsilon is expanding the confocalDT sensor family with the new IFS2404-8. The confocal chromatic sensor offers an 8 mm measuring range and enables high-precision, non-contact distance and thickness measurements on a wide variety of surfaces – from reflective and diffuse to transparent. This makes the sensor suitable for numerous measurement tasks in optical metrology, precision manufacturing, the glass industry, and laboratory and process environments.
Large offset distance with compact sensor design
The new IFS2404-8 expands the compact IFS2404 series with a variant featuring an 8 mm measuring range and an offset distance of approx. 50 mm. This combination of compact sensor design and large working distance is particularly advantageous for applications with limited installation space. Typical applications include level measurements in microtiter vessels, measurements in narrow containers, and depth measurements in blind holes. Users benefit from a high degree of integration flexibility and precise measurement results even at hard-to-access measuring points.
Narrow light cone for challenging installation situations
A key advantage of the IFS2404-8 lies in its optical design. The numerical aperture (NA) of 0.11 produces a particularly narrow light cone, enabling measurements even in narrow openings and where space in front of the sensor is limited. The confocalDT IFS2404-8 offers a static resolution of < 80 nm and linearity of < ±2 µm. This enables reliable implementation of precise measurement tasks requiring high accuracy and stable measured values. Like all confocal chromatic sensors from Micro-Epsilon, the IFS2404-8 is compatible with all confocalDT IFC controllers. This allows the sensor to be flexibly integrated into existing measuring systems and provides an excellent price-performance ratio for demanding applications in industry, research and quality assurance.
